Do It Just Once! You'll never be the same.

I just got home from Lover's Lane.  What is Lover's Lane you ask?
Lover's Lane is looking like Jesus in service to others.
Today we did something different.
If you  know anything about us, we take home cooked meals to the streets every single Sunday, cold water, socks, whatever anyone gives us to take.
There's a shelter for men down there, Friendship Mission.  These are the guys transitioning from the streets, getting shuffled around by the VA and trying to make it.  I can't even tell you how many times I've walked in there to simply say, "I love you.", to the people who were there.  I stop and tell them "I love them" all the time.  If you gave me a truck load of food tomorrow I would drive straight down there and give it to those guys.
Today, it was cooking, cooking cooking.  They have a huge kitchen, so we were all together, Joe, Joseph, Sharon, Amber and later Amanda and Tammy.
We stood in that kitchen putting food together from two this afternoon until almost five thirty.  Hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, potato salad, baked beans bacon and brown sugared up, and three cakes, two lemon one chocolate.  Those guys went crazy for that lemon cake!  I loved it!
We all did something, it was a group effort.  We cooked for probably 60 and fed our usual 30-40.
One guy who is always way up the street saw me drive through earlier in the afternoon and came down there right before we were leaving to get some food.  I told the others, they didn't show.
I was so full of joy and love I wasn't even hungry when I sat down to try to eat.  I probably a one bite of everything just to see how it turned out.
I encourage you to find something to do, go somewhere and help cook, strike out on your own and do kind things for others.  Laying our lives down for others is where it's at.
Your life will never be the same and you won't be the same either.
It's all for them, every moment of it, such a beautiful experience.  Like getting to cook Christmas dinner for everyone you ever loved, every week.  :)
You don't understand it unless you do it and when you do it, man oh man, the kingdom of heaven comes down!
People are in need, doesn't matter why they are in need.  It's not hard to be love and give away from yourself, you just do it.  You find ways to do it, you find places to go to do it and your heart is set to do it.
God took me out of a dark and desolate place and did the most beautiful thing to my heart making that same place beauty for my ashes.
Do it just once!  Something!  Anything!  You'll never be the same!
It's always Jesus.
